Are you around Woburn this weekend? Why not take the opportunity to visit Woburn Brasserie, who won Restaurant of the Year 2015 at the MK Food and Leisure Awards? The restaurant is a cosy family-run restaurant that uses a range of freshly produced dishes in the heart of the historic Woburn Village? Oh in case you wondered, they also provide vegetarian and gluten-free options.
I came across this restaurant a few days ago and followed the restaurant on Twitter, only to find that they followed me back the following day, however ‘little’ this may be, I actually really appreciate restaurants that follow back in a prompt manner. Why? This shows that they are staying up to date with prospective customers, this gesture is little but I can honestly say, very rarely do restaurants bother to respond.
So once I realised that Woburn Brasserie is so welcoming even on Twitter, I thought to myself, ‘This restaurant is on my list’. Which was why I paid a visit to the restaurant with my other half after an afternoon of fast cars and insanely fast cars at ASM Performance Cars.
Although we were not too hungry, we decided to order a main each, the dishes we ordered was the ‘Wild Mushroom Risotto’ and the ‘Fantastic Twice Cooked Blade of Beef’. Although the risotto was just a starter, they were happy to serve it as a main for me. I really enjoy a good risotto because it’s filling and has a number of health benefits. The blade of beef was another delicious dish beef has excellent source of vitamins and proteins and who can say no to a bit of meat?
When I ordered, I didn’t pay much attention to what was inside the risotto apart from the words ‘Mushroom Risotto’, this is one of my safe picks in an unfamiliar restaurant which I didn’t do much research on. I was not disappointed. The dish contained rocket salad and parmesan shavings and I could smell and taste the delicious white truffle oil. I really adore the taste of truffles and when it is used on risotto it is like, the icing on a cake for me. It is a very healthy vegetarian option plus it’s gluten-free. There were different types of mushrooms on the dish which was a great talking point trying to figure out what the names were.
The ‘Fantastic Twice Cooked Blade of Beef’, was fantastic indeed. It was served thyme infused mash, creamed cabbage and bacon, French beans and Red Wine. It was meaty and when I took a bite, it was slightly flaky but very flavourful. This is definitely the signature dish!
We didn’t order any desserts because we didn’t have any space left in the stomach, which was strange for me, but with the humid weather lurking around, I think we did pretty well in terms of food. We arrived 30 minutes after it was opened, so the restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived.
Why not pay a visit to the restaurant soon? It would make a ideal place to dine for brunch or dinner after a round at the The Woburn Golf Club, a day at the Woburn Safari Zoo or even after a day of exploring the village.
